Friday, February 6, 2026 - A group of women who were
reportedly mobilized to attend the Nyota Beneficiary event in Kilifi, presided
over by President William Ruto, were left stranded and forced to spend the
night in the cold after school buses hired to transport them ran out of fuel.
According to reports, the women had been ferried to the
event by local leaders and promised payment for attending.
However, after the function ended, the buses meant to take
them back reportedly stalled for lack of fuel.
They were later informed that no money was available to
refuel the vehicles.
Video shared online shows the women seated on the roadside
with their children, appearing distressed and uncertain about how they will get
home.
In the video, a young man recording the scene accuses local
leaders of squandering mobilization funds meant for transport.
