2026 - President William Ruto has declared that he is targeting a decisive
win in the 2027 General Elections, stating that he hopes to secure a margin of
between two and three million votes.
He revealed that discussions are underway on a possible
coalition with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to broaden the ruling
party’s political base.
Speaking on Monday at State House, Nairobi, during a United
Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Governing Council meeting, Ruto said the
broad‑based Government arrangement with ODM has worked well, praising leaders
for their performance.
“In the coming election, we want to win by a margin of between 2
and 3 million so that we unite the country and walk together.”
“In the last election, we won by a margin of 200,000. There’s
justification for us to consolidate the country into one,” he said.
The President emphasized the need to expedite the
implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, urging
Parliament to fast‑track the process.
He added that UDA is keen on strengthening grassroots
structures to build a loyal membership base, noting that strong party
structures and a broad coalition are essential to secure a decisive mandate in
2027.
On the economy, Ruto expressed optimism about Kenya’s long‑term
prospects, predicting the country could achieve first‑world status within three
decades.
