Wednesday, January 07, 2025 - ODM
Party Leader and Siaya Senator, Oburu Oginga, has shared a heartfelt tribute to
his late brother, Raila Odinga, on what would have been his 81st birthday.
In a moving statement on Wednesday, January 7th,
Oburu admitted that coming to terms with Raila’s passing has been one of the
hardest journeys of his life.
He described their bond as inseparable - “like twins” - filled
with laughter, shared experiences and deep understanding.
“My dear brother Raila, it has been incredibly difficult
coming to terms with your loss.”
“We grew up as twins, sharing so much of life, laughter, and
understanding.”
“Today, it feels unreal to speak of you in the past tense,”
Oburu wrote.
Dr. Oburu went on to celebrate Raila not only as family but
as a statesman whose contributions shaped Kenya’s political landscape.
“You were more than a sibling; you were my best friend.”
“I miss you dearly, yet in my heart, you remain alive. Happy
80 + 1 heavenly birthday,” he added.
Raila Odinga, Kenya’s former Prime Minister, passed away on
October 15th after suffering cardiac arrest during a morning walk at
an Ayurvedic facility in Kochi, India.
He was laid to rest on October 19th at his
ancestral home in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, Bondo, Siaya County.
