Saturday, January 24, 2026 - Kenya Bureau of Statistics (KEBS) Principal Human Resource Manager, Dr. Irene Mutie, has been accused of engaging in an illicit relationship with a university student and later attempting to intimidate him when he sought to end the affair.
According to a source, Dr. Mutie, who is married and is known for endless controversies on social media, is involved in a romantic relationship with a 19-year-old university student identified as Silas, said to be studying in Rongai.
The source claims that the relationship began consensually but later deteriorated after the young man reportedly grew uncomfortable and threatened to cut ties with the senior Government official.
It is further alleged that Dr. Mutie responded by warning the student that she will use her influence to intimidate him through the police, allegedly threatening to accuse him of stealing from her.
“Irene threatened that she will report him to the police and claim he stole from her. They are still together,” the source claimed.
Dr. Mutie has also been accused of eyeing her friend’s husband.
The friend is said to be a well-known Kamba gospel singer identified as Fortune Mwikali.
