17, 2025 - Nairobi County’s Head of Customer Care, Geoffrey
Mosiria, has stirred laughter online after cheekily claiming
his own Guinness World Record.
The County official posted on social media that he had
hugged Kenya’s newest eco-hero, Truphena Muthoni, for 72
seconds straight.
“Leo mimi pia nimebreak world record ya kuhug Guinness
World Record holder, Ambassador Truphena Muthoni, for 72 straight seconds,”
he joked, leaving netizens amused.
The playful post came shortly after Truphena made national
headlines by hugging an indigenous tree in Nyeri for an astonishing 72 hours.
Her bold act was designed to raise awareness about climate
change and conservation, and it quickly went viral.
The feat earned her admiration across the country and even
praise from President William Ruto, who awarded her the prestigious Head of
State Commendation (HSC).
While Mosiria’s “record-breaking hug” was lighthearted, he
used the moment to highlight Truphena’s courage and commitment.
He pledged to support her mission by purchasing 72 seedlings
in honour of her achievement, to be planted along the Nairobi River.
He also revealed plans to add 80 more seedlings in memory of
his late father, turning the humorous gesture into a deeply symbolic tribute.
Mosiria summed up his admiration simply: “I’m really proud
of her and will continue supporting her in every way.”
Truphena’s recognition continues to grow - she has been appointed Ambassador of the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign and rewarded with a sponsored holiday and support for her dream trip to Brazil.
