Monday, September 8, 2025 - Outspoken Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has declared he will not seek re-election beyond the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking during an interview on Monday, September 8th,
2025, Amisi emphasized the need for generational change and a culture of
responsible leadership in Kenya.
“I do not want to serve for 50 years; even if the people of
Saboti want me to vie again, I’ll tell them no, thank you,” Amisi stated,
adding that he intends to serve only 15 years in Parliament before stepping
aside.
The vocal ODM legislator said that if he fails to secure
re-election in 2027, he will return to farming and allow other capable leaders
to take the mantle.
“If I don’t win, I’ll go and do my work. I’ll just go
farming,” he said.
Amisi criticized the tendency of politicians to cling to
power, urging leaders to embrace term limits and welcome fresh ideas.
He argued that other Kenyans may offer better solutions for
governance, including reforms in health, transportation, and the electoral
system.
“Can I allow somebody else, another Kenyan, to also take
over? Probably, he has a good idea of capitation.”
“Maybe he has a better idea of SHA. Maybe he has a better
idea on transportation and the electoral system,” he noted.
