Kisumu man blamed for leading his wife to depression after she took her own life

Sunday, September 7, 2025 - A Kisumu-based man has been accused of driving his wife into depression, leading to her tragic death.

The deceased, identified as Winnie, a young mother of three, allegedly took her own life after battling emotional distress for years.

Friends say her struggles were worsened by constant quarrels and neglect from her estranged husband, Cornel Kombudo.

One of Winnie’s close friends, while sharing private messages, accused Cornel of causing her emotional pain and failing to protect her at her lowest moments.

In the messages, Winnie lamented that her divorce had drained her both financially and emotionally.

“Cornel Kombudo, may you never know peace! I will come and bury Winnie Noon because I never diminished her light when she needed my help. Even with your family wrangles, you should have taken better care of this woman. She deserved love, peace, and understanding—not the pain that dimmed her spirit,” the grieving friend wrote.

She went on to describe their bond: “Noon was more than a friend. She would call me, and we would talk for more than an hour. She carried so much in her heart, and sometimes I had to cut her off—not because I didn’t want to listen, but because our issues mirrored each other, pulling me back into my own struggles.”

The friend remembered Winnie as “a vibrant, warm, and full of light”, leaving many shattered by her untimely death.
