Harambee Stars Captain ABUD OMAR reveals how he will spend the Ksh 2.5 million reward from RUTO - “Spoil my dad first”

Monday, August 18, 2025 - Harambee Stars captain Abud Omar has revealed his plans for the Ksh 2.5 million reward he recently received from President William Ruto, following the team’s stunning 1-0 victory over Zambia’s Chipolopolo in the ongoing African Nations Championships (CHAN).

Speaking to a local media house, the 32-year-old defender - full name Abud Omar Khamis - said his first priority is his father.

“Spoiling my dad because he is the one who raised me.”

“I think he deserves it,” Omar shared, showing deep gratitude to the man who shaped his journey.

But Omar isn’t all about short-term thrills.

Beyond giving back to family, he revealed that his eyes are firmly set on long-term growth.

“I would also like to invest a lot. Buy land,” he said, adding that securing property is his top financial goal.

When it comes to personal life, the captain proved just how grounded he is.

Asked about his best friend, he proudly named his son.

His communication habits also circle back to family - “My dad” is the person he calls the most, while both his father and wife top his text list.

Each Harambee Stars player recently pocketed Ksh 2.5 million from Ruto, plus a Ksh 500,000 top-up from Raila Odinga, a rare double blessing for the squad.

Born in Mombasa, Omar kicked off his football journey at just five years old.

Today, he’s not only a national hero but also a family man who hasn’t forgotten where it all began.
