Wednesday, July 16, 2025 - Chaos erupted at Kapomboi village in Trans Nzoia County after Trans Nzoia Woman Representative Lilian Siyoi was forced to flee the area under dramatic circumstances, during what was supposed to be a relief food distribution event.
Siyoi, who had reportedly transported the food all the way
from State House, Nairobi, to assist locals, was met with hostility instead of
gratitude.
Irate locals accused her of using the event as a political
stunt.
Chaos erupted when a section of youth began shouting her
down, demanding she leave immediately.
Things quickly escalated, forcing her security team to whisk
her away from the scene.
Videos circulating online show the vehicle carrying the food
being driven away after the Woman Rep was evacuated by her security team.
She was reportedly forced to hide in a maize plantation.
“Wantam” slogans rent the air as the locals expressed their
dissatisfaction with the Woman Rep’s leadership and close association with
President William Ruto.
