Another SHAKAHOLA? MURKOMEN addresses discovery of human skulls and dead body in Kilifi homestead raid!

Tuesday, July 22, 2025 - The Ministry of Interior has launched investigations into what could be another case of religious radicalisation, following a disturbing discovery at a secluded homestead in the Binzaro area of Kilifi County.

In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed that the operation was triggered by a tip-off from vigilant members of the public.

Security and intelligence officers raided a five-acre property suspected of harbouring radical religious activity.

During the operation, four individuals were rescued, including a 50-year-old man reported missing in Siaya in April, his 40-year-old wife, and two other females aged 40 and 19.

“Preliminary assessments indicate the individuals may have been held under the influence of radical teachings,” said Murkomen.

In a chilling twist, officers recovered two human skulls and a freshly deceased body of an unidentified adult male in a nearby thicket.

The remains were transported to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation and forensic analysis.

The main suspect is in custody, along with three individuals identified as the compound's managers.

Three others were also arrested in connection with the questionable sale of the property, as investigations continue into the legality of the transaction.

The DCI in Malindi has secured protective custody for the rescued victims and applied for warrants to conduct a comprehensive forensic sweep of the scene.

Murkomen praised local residents for their timely alert and reaffirmed the Government's commitment to confronting radical indoctrination that endangers lives under the guise of faith.
