Wednesday, May 14, 2025 - Homa Bay County Majority Leader and Kwabwai Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Hon. Richard Ouma Ogindo, is facing a public backlash after being photographed launching a goalpost in his ward.

Accompanied by 20 fellow MCAs and County Women Representative Florence Ouma, Hon. Ogindo unveiled the goalpost, which he reportedly claimed cost over Ksh 100,000.

The event, intended to promote sports development in his ward, has instead sparked controversy on social media.

Critics argue that the allocation of such a significant amount of funds for a single goalpost is an imprudent use of public resources, especially considering the pressing infrastructural and developmental needs in the county.
