Nairobi man arraigned in court for threatening to kill his ex-lover over a suspicious phone contact saved as ‘MCA’ in her mobile phone

Saturday, March 15, 2025 - A dramatic love triangle has landed a 27-year-old security guard, Vincent Kiprono Mutai, in court after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend over a suspicious phone contact saved as “MCA” in her mobile phone.

The incident, which took place on March 6th in Mathare North 4, Starehe Sub-County, saw Kiprono storm into the college student’s house in a fit of rage, believing she was involved with a Member of County Assembly (MCA).

According to court records, Kiprono, armed with a pen knife, locked the door, demanded food, and threatened his ex-lover, warning that she would “face it rough.”

Fearing for her life, the woman cleverly tricked him into stepping out to buy her supper at a nearby hotel.

Seizing the opportunity, she escaped to a friend’s house and reported the incident at Muthaiga Police Station.

Police arrested Kiprono at the complainant’s house while he was allegedly issuing further death threats.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Mbati, Kiprono was granted a cash bail of Ksh 10,000, and his case is set for hearing on September 3rd.
