Friday, January 3, 2025 - South Korean investigators on Friday halted their attempt to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his failed martial law bid.
The Corruption Investigation Office made this known in a statement on
Friday, saying that the investigators called off the attempt due to a standoff
at his residence.
“Regarding the execution of the arrest warrant today, it was determined
that the execution was effectively impossible due to the ongoing standoff.
Concern for the safety of personnel on-site led to the decision to halt the
execution,” the statement said.
Recall that operatives investigating South Korea’s suspended President,
Yoon Suk Yeol, over his short-lived declaration of martial law, sought an
arrest warrant for the ousted president after he failed to
report for questioning.
